Recipe for salt dough

  1. 2 dl flour
  2. 1 dl fine salt
  3. 1 dl warm water
  4. 1 tbsp cooking oil or sunflower oil.
  5. Mix all the ingredients together
  6. Knead the dough together
  7. Bake at 120 degrees for about 3 hours depending on thickness, but can also be left on the kitchen counter for a few days and dry until firm enough. (I gave mine about 5 hours and a couple of days to dry, but it also gave a very durable result.
  8. And then they were painted, but not on the bottom, they still need to have enough air to hold their shape 🙂
  9. if keept without to much most, they seriously lasts for years.

Shelf life of salt dough

If you don’t paint them on the bottom and they’re not in a damp place, they can last for years, but if they get wet, they’ll become soft and fall apart.

A little glue, sesame seeds, birch bark or sprinkles will give a good effect.

Salt dough that you haven’t used can be keept in the fridge for 3-4 weeks, they say, unfortunately I haven’t tried it myself.

They’re so cute to use in the play kitchen both inside and outside, just don’t leave them outside overnight.

P.S

Don’t eat them, even though they’re not exactly poisonous, they’re full of salt, so your stomach probably won’t be too happy about them. 🙂
